Twitter becomes Limelight among Teenagers Preference from Facebook

In this modern era of communication and advertising, social networks have found their ground across the globe. There are so many social networking sites to begin with that pry for users so much so that most are still struggling for effective monetization strategies. Amongst these however, are the two top networking sites Facebook and Twitter that has erupted as the two behemoth sites pulling in millions of users every year.

So the main question still remains: which is better; Facebook or Twitter?

It is indeed a hard decision to make, comparing the sites’ credibility, their pros and cons. Talking about experiences, it is clear that facebook has an upper hand over twitter simply because it was invented first. Adding to this, facebook is user friendly, easy to grasp and it mainly aids in communication with friends, old and new alike, family members, emailing, chatting, image and video sharing, etc.

Twitter on the other hand is relatively a new networking site and is a little hard to grasp for many people. It encourages you to grasp ideals in byte-sized chunks as well as use updates as jumping off points to other places.
Despite this virtual age difference between the two networking sites, various findings have revealed that US teens are actively switching their love interests from the Mark Zuckerberg behemoth to the micro blogging platform. Surveys state that Twitter has managed to get about 26% fan followers amongst US teens, just 3% more than Facebook’s 23%.

So why this sudden shift of interests?

Socialites across the globe have tried to look into the dying embers of what was Facebook, and tried to find a logical explanation. It seems tweeting has become the order of the day with each and every tweet of yours getting immediate responses. It further encourages ‘linking off’ to anywhere and hence is analogous to any search engine. Hence twitter was successful in building brand awareness not only in people like evangelists, online marketers and bloggers, but also in teenagers these days.

Many twitter addicts have been quoted of saying, “Twitter is an extremely helpful site, I can ask questions and immediately get a response” and things like, “Twitter is a communication stream where you can dive in for a refreshing swim.”

However, at the end of the day, both are just another networking site. So the fact that which is better than which simply depends on the fact that which of the two can pull more followers. Ultimately, advertisers and marketers generally tend to flock in places with more young minds to mold.
